ABOUT PARRA PARODI

Colombian designer and artist based in New York. She is currently pursuing Fashion Design and Society MFA in Parsons school of Design where she is a merit-based scholarship recipient. Also finalist at the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Design Masters Scholar Award 24’ and a selected Mentee of the Proenza Schouler Fashion Business Mentorship 25’.

Being a Latin American designer has shaped her unique gaze—one of deep curiosity about how culture and context transform both collective and personal identity. She believes fashion is political and as a means of reclaiming agency .

Her foundation comes from experiencing how body and dressing are means of rituality in LATAM. This became her argument to design clothing that reflects the inner world of the Latinx “mad- women”.

Alejandra’s practice is connected to her honoring where she comes from but also enhancing her women experience as a designer in today’s industry. Every project she undertakes is grounded on local craftsmanship and meticulous research into the land and the people. Understanding that at the end she will always look south, because there is something in craftsmanship that can only be found in Latin America.
